International Rule of Law

International law has been practiced for more than 100 years, with more than 200 international organizations based in the city, including the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, the Permanent Court of Arbitration and Europol. In addition to government organizations, there are also numerous non-governmental organizations (NGOs) such as Unicef and Oxfam Novib. Almost all foreign embassies and consulates are also located here, and plans have recently been presented to house a special Ukraine tribunal.

Opportunities for young professionals 

This offers you as a young professional in the field of International Rule of Law numerous career opportunities. Help build an international legal system capable of prosecuting and punishing crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide. For example, you can work as a legal adviser for international organizations such as the International Court of Justice or the International Criminal Court. Or you could work as a lawyer specializing in international law at law firms or NGOs. 

You might want to start your career as a researcher for an international organization or think tank, such as the Peace Palace or the T.M.C. Asser Institute. Or you may want to get involved in promoting the Rule of Law in developing countries or conflict zones, as is done at The Hague Institute for Global Justice, or fighting forms of serious international and organized crime at Europol.
